It looks like Twitter will now warn its users when they try to like a labelled tweet. In an effort to curb the spread of ‘fake news’, Twitter announced on Tuesday that the warning feature will hit iOS devices with a planned rollout to Android devices in the coming weeks. Twitter has been criticized in the past for censoring opinions and voices that do not conform with mainstream politics and it looks like the social media platform is sticking to their guns regarding labelled tweets.

— Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) November 23, 2020This actually started during the 2020 US elections. During the hotly contested elections between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, users were warned when they tried to retweet a flagged tweet. But this time, Twitter is expanding the feature and will hit devices soon. Twitter stated that “Giving context on why a labelled Tweet is misleading under our election, COVID-19, and synthetic and manipulated media rules are vital. These prompts helped decrease Quote Tweets of misleading information by 29 per cent so we're expanding them to show when you tap to like a labelled Tweet.”.
Twitter also stated that users will have to click through the warning message to actually see the tweet. They will also then be able to retweet, quote, like the tweet. Twitter also said that replies will be turned off on those labelled tweets.
