AI researchers at Microsoft leaked 38TB of private data accidentally: Heres what happened

Microsoft's AI team has made a huge blunder by leaking 38 TB of the company’s private data. A report has revealed that this data contained confidential information such as passwords for Microsoft services, secret keys, and over 30,000 internal messages from more than 350 Microsoft employees using Microsoft Teams. According to a report by Wiz, the tech giant’s AI team has made a collection of training data public, which consisted of open-source code and AI models used for image recognition. After that, a link from Azure was provided to people who visited Github storage that can be used to download these models. Microsoft has announced that it is rolling out updates for the Snipping Tool to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels in order to improve the overall capture experience on Windows 11. The tech giant has introduced Text Actions which detects text in the captured screenshots and allows users to copy that text. Currently, Apple offers a similar feature named Live Text that allows people using iOS 15 or later to copy text from photos. “With this update to Snipping Tool (version 11.2308.33.0), we are introducing Text Actions, which detects text in your captured screenshots, making it easy to copy text from any image to share with others or paste in another app,” the tech giant said in a Windows Insider blogpost on September 14, 2023. Apple to set up a new manufacturing plant in Karnataka

Foxconn, which is a major iPhone Assembler, recently proposed to set up a new supplementary manufacturing plant in Karnataka. Foxconn Technology (Hon Hai Technology Group) is headquartered in Taiwan and is a leading technology and service provider. This addition would supplement the current  Devanahalli Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Karnataka. The news was confirmed by Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil. A meeting was held recently with Foxconn Industrial Internet’s (Fii) CEO Brand Cheng for the same and it was chaired by Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Government refutes CoWin data leak rumours: Heres clarity on what actually happened

On Monday, there were some social media posts and news reports about the CoWin data leak and that it was easily accessible via a bot. However, now Minister of Electronics and Information Technology of India, Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar has denied the allegations. He clarifies what really happened in a Twitter post.  Govt’s review of the CoWin data leak claims CERT-In (Computer Emergency Response Team) has inspected the leaked data and upon reviewing the CoWin data available online, govt. realized there is in fact a Telegram bot that was showing CoWin app details when you feed it phone numbers.  The bot is relying on a leaked database but apparently, the data within it was from a past leak.
