WhatsApp for iOS could soon bring a dedicated video camera mode

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a dedicated video option within its new camera mode. As per WABetaInfo, a preview version of WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.1.0.75 has this feature. And although it’s currently not even in beta, not before long it should be available to them as well as regular WhatsApp users. So, let’s check out the feature at work in some newly out screenshots.

WABetaInfo calls this feature — Camera Mode and it includes a photo-taking option and a dedicated video recording option also.

So earlier, you had to press and hold the shutter button to record a video on WhatsApp. However, now you can do that by swiping to the dedicated video mode. It should make recording a video quicker and easier.

WhatsApp for Android camera mode

As for Android users, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.24.21 update also reportedly has this feature. 

Another WhatsApp feature under development is Chat Transfer, which lets you move your chat history to an Android phone without using Google Drive.

2020 iPhone could support time-of-flight 3D sensors: Report

While the 2019 iPhones are yet to be launched, the rumour mill is already churning out predictions for the 2020 iPhones. According to some reports, Apple is expected to release three new iPhones this year. As for 2020, the tech giant could supposedly incorporate time-of-flight (ToF) sensors in the future iPhones. Additionally, Apple might also include 5G connectivity in next year’s iPhone models. Previously, a report speculated that Apple might introduce VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) ToF sensors on the rear of the 2020 iPhone models. The setup is similar to the TrueDepth camera setup found on the current iPhone models, but on the front. Ming Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst, has also predicted that Apple might bring ToF sensors to its 2020 iPhone lineup. In the latest research note shared by 9to5Mac, Kuo claims that at least two of the 2020 iPhone models could feature a ToF sensor on the rear.
