Apple has updated the MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch with new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips

Apple has drawn the curtain back from what was a fairly obvious update - the upcoming MacBook Pros will now be powered by the new M2 Pro that comes with a 10- or 12-core CPU. The M2 Pro is believed to offer 20% better performance when compared to the M1 Pro. It also offers 200GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and up to 32GB of unified memory. It also has a new GPU that has up to 19 cores and offers up to 30% better graphics performance. The chipset also has a 40% faster Neural Engine.

The MacBook Pro with M2 Max offers up to a 38-core GPU, which is claimed to result in 30% improved graphics when compared with the M1 Max. It also offers 400GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, which is twice what the M2 Pro offers.

The M2 Max also comes with a next-gen 12-core CPU that has up to eight high-performance and four high-efficiency cores. It is claimed that this results in up to 20% greater performance when compared to the M1 Max. It has a more powerful media engine when compared to the M2 Pro. The company claims that it has twice the ProRes acceleration, which ends up speeding up media playback and transcoding.

Other MacBook Pro specifications to note

The MacBook Pro has two models, one with 14.2-inch and the other with 16.2-inch displays. Both models come with ProMotion technology with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display, a Magic Keyboard, and an aluminium body.
