Realme 55-inch TV with SLED display expected to launch soon

Realme is all set to launch a 55-inch 4K TV and it comes with something called SLED. So, what does SLED stand for? Well, from the information revealed by realme, one can deduce that it stands for the Spectral Power Distribution (SPD) technology used for the backlighting of the TV, but how this affects the viewing experience on the TV is something we will only know when we get our hands on it. Till now, we have seen TVs with LED backlighting, OLED TV and QLED TVs. So, it will be interesting to see if there is any difference between SLED and the other forms of backlighting.

Realme 55-inch SLED TV expected features and specifications

While we know the TV will have SLED backlighting, we don't know much else. We don't know the OS, but since realme’s previous TV ran on Android TV, we think this one will run on Android TV as well.

The TV also claims to support 108 percent of the NTSC colour space. What does that mean? Well, the NTSC Colour Gamut is 98 percent of Adobe RGB. Adobe RGB Colour Gamut is 17 percent larger than sRGB / Rec.709. The DCI-P3 Color Gamut is 26 percent larger than sRGB / Rec.709. To put things into perspective, OnePlus says that its OnePlus U1 (review) 55-inch 4K HDR TV covers 93 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space. How this affects the real-world viewing experience is something we will know when we get our hands on the realme TV.

The realme SLED TV also boasts of TUV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification for a more comfortable viewing experience.

This isn’t the first time realme has launched a TV in India. The company has a 32-inch HD Ready and 43-inch FHD TV available in the market. We had a chance to check out the 43-inch TV and you can read our review here.
