Nothing just 5 Nothing Phone 2 details officially confirmed so far

Nothing Phone 2 could be semi-transparent or at least have a translucent charging cable. It won’t be a small phone either. Here’s everything we have learned about the phone from Carl Pei as well as leaks and rumours.

Starting with what Carl Pei has hinted at in bits and pieces so far.

So, the top portion of USB-C connector of Nothing Phone 2 sports the signature "transparent design language" of the brand. You can see the Nothing brandng through the transparent part.

Carl calls it "nice" and we agree. It does look nice but we are concerned whether it will be discoloured in time.

2. Not a small phone

Contrary to what we may believe living in the echo chamber, very few people buy small phones https://t.co/aVolitAzN3

— Carl Pei (@getpeid) June 18, 2023

Carl says not many people buy small phones. Generally, people prefer big displays for media consumption. More display for the money one pays.

A smaller variant requires virtually the same resource investment as developing a "brand new" product, each of which will have a fixed cost in the mid-$xx millions USD range https://t.co/khvYAd9XoX

He also reveals it takes about the same amount of investment for developing a small device and a new device.

3. An eco-friendly design

The Phone 2 will be SGA_SA certified. It will have a carbon footprint of 53.45 kg thanks to a plastic-free build and a use of 3x more recycled materials compared to its precursor. Even the assembly process is said to be using 100% renewable energy.

Jio effect: Bharti Airtel may soon shut down 2G, 3G and shift on 4G-only network

Taking a cue from Reliance Jio which offers only 4G network, Bharti Airtel is looking to transform it current setup to become the second 4G-only network provider in India. According to the company’s Chief Executive, Gopal Vittal, Airtel is expediting steps to deploy the fourth generation airwaves in the 900 Mhz band, which are currently used only for 2G voice services, to 4G only. The Economic Times said that Airtel has 116 units of airwaves in the 900 MHz band across 16 circles. “We are seeing dramatic growth in 4G demand, and over a period of time, the 900 Mhz band will purely serve our 4G customers, while 2G services will be continue to be available on the 1800 Mhz band,” Vittal said, adding that the company will have “a transition strategy in place” in the run-up to deploying all its 900 MHz band spectrum for 4G services. The executive also signalled that the telecom service provider could shut down 3G networks in the near future, saying “the demise of 3G technology is rapidly dra...
