Xiaomi 12 Ultra Live Photos Reveal Massive Round Camera Island And Leica Branding

Xiaomi could soon launch the Xiaomi 12 Ultra with Leica branded cameras and a unique design. Just the other month, the brand announced its strategic partnership with the German camera brand Leica and revealed the results of their combined efforts could see the daylight in July 2022. And now we have stumbled upon purported live images of this so-called Xiaomi 12 Ultra phone thanks to a Twitter user named Shadow_Leak. The photos showcase a ginormous camera hump and towards the top right corner lies a Leica logo.

Besides the images, here’s everything else we have gathered about the phone.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra Specs and Features (Expected)

From the newly leaked photos, Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s design highlight seems to be its rear camera panel. The bump appears to be very prominent. But, this isn’t our first look at Xiaomi 12 Ultra live images. What’s new is that the Leica logo is now present on the top right corner while it was on the bottom left corner.

The Xiaomi-Leica partnership is said to contribute “unprecedented in-depth collision and fusion in optical design, aesthetic orientations, image preferences, and innovative technologies,” according to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun.

The marketing talk aside, we don’t know how involved Leica would be in tuning the Xiaomi phone cameras.

As for the actual sensors, the real setup is rumoured to house a 50MP (w/ OIS) primary camera, a 48MP periscope telephoto shooter, and a 48MP ultrawide snapper.

The other specs speculations include Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, a 5000mAh battery, a 120W fast charging, and a 6.73-inch 2K 120Hz Samsung AMOLED display.

That’s what we know so far about the upcoming Xiaomi flagship. But, take them with a pinch of salt.

What if a botched Google search card says you are a serial killer

Many of us have come to heavily rely on Google Search and often don’t question the veracity of information Google cherry-picks from the vast data available on the world wide web for its search cards. This incident, which is one part funny and two parts scary, makes it clear that Google’s Knowlege Graph may not be as sacrosanct as you may have believed.  Hristo Georgiev was informed by a former colleague that a Google search of his name returned a Google Knowlege Graph that depicted his photo and linked it to a Bulgarian rapist and serial killer of the same name, also known as ‘The Sadist’, who murdered five people back in the 1970s and was later executed by shooting.  The graph linked the info to a Wikipedia article, which incidentally had no link to any of Georgiev’s profile or his image. It was Google’s algorithms that erroneously matched the two. What’s even more problematic is that Hristo Georgiev is not a unique name and is shared by hundreds of other people.  As...
