Redmi 10 Prime confirmed to be the first phone with Helio G88 in India

The Redmi 10 Prime will be the first phone in India to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chip when it launches on September 3, next week. Xiaomi India MD, Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to post an image teasing the launch of the Redmi 10 Prime in India. The company has been teasing the phone for quite some time now and it is expected to be based on the Redmi 10 that launched globally earlier this month.

The post by Manu on Twitter confirms the presence of the G88 SoC on the upcoming Redmi 10 Prime. There is a dedicated microsite on the official website that is teasing the key specifications of the phone as well. The specifications of the Redmi 10 Prime are likely the same as the global Redmi 10 but Xiaomi could add some India-specific features. That said, here’s everything we know about the Redmi 10 Prime.

Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime expected specifications

The key specifications of the Redmi 10 Prime and the Redmi 10 are looking quite similar. The Redmi 10 has a plastic build that measures 8.95 millimetres in thickness and will be available in three colours: Sea Blue, Pebble White and Carbon Gray. 

It features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate and has a punch-hole notch cutout for the selfie camera. The screen is topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass 3.

It is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 processor paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There is a Mali-G52 GPU onboard and it runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 11.

The Redmi 10 has a 50MP primary camera followed by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and two 2MP sensors. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera.

The Redmi 10 is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.

There is no word on the pricing yet, but it is expected to be priced starting at around Rs 9,999 in India.

2020 iPhone could support time-of-flight 3D sensors: Report

While the 2019 iPhones are yet to be launched, the rumour mill is already churning out predictions for the 2020 iPhones.
