Whatsapp seems to be down on the day after Diwali: Here is Downdetector results and Twitter reactions

WhatsApp appears to be having a downtime or congestion issue in select areas in India on the day after Diwali. This could be because of the Diwali greeting messages that billions of Indians must have sent to their loved ones yesterday through WhatsApp. Although, it is too early to put a pin on the cause of this snarl-up, we are seeing folks messaging us over Telegram asking if WhatsApp is indeed down. Also, a quick glance through Twitter timeline has brought up some interesting reactions to #WhatsAppDown.

But first, here is the Downdetector report:

WhatsApp Downdetector Status

The Downdetector finding suggest WhatsApp down reports are primarily coming from Mumbai, following by cities like Delhi and Hyderabad. The last we checked, as of October 25 at 12:21 PM, there have been 126 such reports.

People seems to be primarily finding trouble sending messages. This is applicable to both personal and group chats, but more so in case of the former. Also, the WhatsApp desktop client isn't connecting at all. WhatsApp seems to be having issue connecting to the server.

User reports indicate Whatsapp is having problems since 3:17 AM EDT. https://t.co/cvGsWTfsWq RT if you're also having problems #Whatsappdown
