The ability to download your favourite movies and TV shows on Netflix is a great feature, especially if you travel a lot and don’t have a great network connection on the go. Three years ago, Netflix introduced Smart Downloads, letting users find the next episode of their favourite show ready to watch offline. Today, Netflix has introduced a new feature called Downloads for You. 

What is Netflix Downloads for You?

Downloads for You is a new feature that automatically downloads recommended shows or movies to a user's mobile device. The download of the content is automatic, and to content is chosen based on the user’s tastes. According to Netflix, “whether you’re a comedy fan stuck on a long car ride or a rom-com lover without the internet, we do the work, so there is always something new waiting to entertain and delight you”.

How to enable Netflix Downloads for You

The user can choose how much content can be downloaded on the device. It can be activated in a few simple steps. The Download for You feature is available on Android only globally, starting today, and Netflix will be testing the feature soon on iOS. To enable Download for You, use the following steps. 

Step 1: Go to the Downloads tab on your smartphone or tablet and toggle on ‘Downloads for You’. Step 2: Choose the amount of content you want to be downloaded to your device (1GB, 3GB, or 5GB) and click Turn On. The more space you allow, the more recommendations Netflix will download for you.

Netflix has upgraded its Android app to stream in xHE-AAC. Users need to be on Android 9 or higher to take advantage of the new feature. This will help deliver “studio quality” sound to those consuming content on an Android device. You can learn more about it here.

Facebook to shut down standalone gaming app in Oct

New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) Meta is winding up its standalone Facebook Gaming app on both Android and iOS from October 28. The app will also be not available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Meta did not elaborate on why it is shuttering the standalone gaming app. "Despite this news, our mission to connect players, fans and creators with the games they love hasn't changed, and you'll still be able to find your games, streamers and groups when you visit Gaming in the Facebook app," reads a banner on its website.
