Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ with 50MP quad cameras, Snapdragon 865 officially launched

Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has officially launched for the Chinese market and follows the Oppo Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro that was announced earlier this month. The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has a 50Mp quad-camera array on the back and is powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor. Oppo has teased the launch of the Reno 5 series in India, and it is likely we see the trio of phones in the Reno 5 lineup arrive next year.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is an upgraded version of the Reno 5 Pro with a new design, cameras and fast charging support. While the Reno 5 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor that was announced for India recently, the Reno 5 Pro+ has Snapdragon 865 processor under the hood. Here’s a brief look at the specifications and pricing of the Reno 5 Pro+.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has a new design with pyramid-shaped crystal textures that resembles a matte finish. The phone is offered in a black and a gradient finish that changes colours with the light. Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ measures 7.99 millimetres at its thickest point and weighs 184 grams. It features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses an AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate support, 1100 nits peak brightness and HDR10+ playback. The screen has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and has an in-screen fingerprint sensor underneath.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with an octa-core CPU and is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. It runs on ColorOS 11.1 that is based on Android 11. 

The Reno 5 Pro+ has a quad-camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 50MP camera which uses Sony IMX766 lens with an f/1.8 aperture, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 13MP telephoto camera and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera housed inside the notch cutout. The rear cameras can record in 4K at upto 60FPS and supports EIS and OIS.

Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging out-of-the-box 

Oppo has priced the Reno 5 Pro+ starting at CNY 3,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. This roughly translates to a starting price of Rs 45,000 by direct conversion in India. However, there is no word whether Oppo is planning to bring the Reno 5 Pro+ to India anytime soon.

Facebook to shut down standalone gaming app in Oct

New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) Meta is winding up its standalone Facebook Gaming app on both Android and iOS from October 28. The app will also be not available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Meta did not elaborate on why it is shuttering the standalone gaming app. "Despite this news, our mission to connect players, fans and creators with the games they love hasn't changed, and you'll still be able to find your games, streamers and groups when you visit Gaming in the Facebook app," reads a banner on its website. "We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything that you've done to build a thriving community for gamers and fans since this app first launched," the notice added. The app was launched in April 2020 to let users watch their favourite streamers, play instant games and take part in gaming groups.
