Huawei has officially introduced the successor to its first foldable phone. The Huawei Mate Xs has been launched at the company’s online event. The new foldable phone features an improved hinge mechanism. Moreover, the device is just 5.4mm at its thinnest point. The phone features a 6.6-inch (2480 x 1148 pixels) 19.5:9 OLED display when folded and an 8-inch (2480 x 2200 pixels) OLED 8:7.1 display when unfolded.
The Huawei Mate Xs is powered by the Kirin 990 5G chipset, paired with ARM Mali-G76MP16 GPU and Dual Big Core + Tiny Core NPUs(Neural-network Processing Unit). It comes with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB with NM card. The handset runs Android 10 and comes without Google Play services. Instead, users will have to rely on HMS for their needs.
On the optics front, the foldable phone sports a triple camera setup: a 40MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture + a 16MP Ultra Wide Angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, 2.5cm macro + an 8MP Telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, 3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, OIS and Huawei Time-of-Flight (TOF) Camera. The device comes equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
It has dual speakers. Connectivity options include 5G Multi-mode,Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) (wave2), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual band), NFC and USB Type-C (GEN1). The phone packs a 4500mAh battery that supports 55W fast charging technology.
The Mate Xs foldable phone comes in Interstellar Blue colour. It is priced at 2499 Euros (approx Rs 1,95,245) and will roll out globally starting from next month.
