Vivo X80 vs Vivo X80 Pro Comparison: Specifications and Features

Vivo X80 series is here in India. There are two phones namely the Vivo X80 and the Vivo X80 Pro. As has been the case with its predecessors, the new Vivo X series also boasts “cinematic” camera capabilities. The handsets have got a 50MP triple rear camera setup with Zeiss optics, an anti-reflective coating on the glass surfaces, and a proprietary V1 Plus image processor. But, it’s not just cameras, the smartphones are wielding MediaTek and Qualcomm top-trim chipsets, 5G future-readiness, 80W high-speed charging, 120Hz high refresh rate screens, and Android 12 software.

Let’s have a quick comparison of the on-paper specifications of the two Vivo smartphones.

Vivo X80 vs Vivo X80 Pro Comparison

Vivo X80 vs Vivo X80 Pro colors

The vivo X80 and X80 Pro come in a Cosmic Black colour while the Vivo X80 comes in Urban Blue colour too.

Vivo has outfitted the X80 with a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. On the Pro model, you get a QHD+ LTPO2 panel which means you get an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. This implementation would be more power-efficient.

You get an optical fingerprint scanner embedded in the Vivo X80 screen. Meanwhile, the X80 Pro has got an ultrasonic fingerprint solution, which is considered more secure. Unlock and you will be welcomed by Funtouch OS based on Android 12 on both devices.

The front camera is a 32MP sensor on both. The standard X80 variant has a 50MP (Sony sensor)+ 12MP(ultrawide)+ 12MP(2x, 20x superzoom) triplet. The Pro has a 50MP Samsung sensor accompanied by a 12MP (2x, gimbal) secondary sensor and an 8MP (5x, 60x super zoom, OIS) periscope zoom lens.

The processing load of the regular Vivo X80 is lifted by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage setup. A 4500mAh battery keeps the lights on and an 80W charger ensures it stays charged.

The Pro variant gets Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead along with upto 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and upto 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

What if a botched Google search card says you are a serial killer

Many of us have come to heavily rely on Google Search and often don’t question the veracity of information Google cherry-picks from the vast data available on the world wide web for its search cards. This incident, which is one part funny and two parts scary, makes it clear that Google’s Knowlege Graph may not be as sacrosanct as you may have believed.  Hristo Georgiev was informed by a former colleague that a Google search of his name returned a Google Knowlege Graph that depicted his photo and linked it to a Bulgarian rapist and serial killer of the same name, also known as ‘The Sadist’, who murdered five people back in the 1970s and was later executed by shooting.  The graph linked the info to a Wikipedia article, which incidentally had no link to any of Georgiev’s profile or his image. It was Google’s algorithms that erroneously matched the two. What’s even more problematic is that Hristo Georgiev is not a unique name and is shared by hundreds of other people.  As...
