Spec comparison: Honor 8X vs Honor Play

The Huawei has launched a lot of smartphones in the Indian market this year, targeting almost each and every price segment. The Huawei’s Honor Play was launched with a price tag of Rs 19,999 in India with a dual camera setup and Kirin 970 processor. On the other hand, the Honor 8X, which was recently launched in India at a price of Rs 14,999, is equipped with a Kirin 710 octa-core processor. With a price difference of almost Rs 5,000 between these two smartphones, there is bound to be a difference in their hardware as well. Let's see how these two phones stack up against each other on paper. Products Honor 8X Honor Play Launch price Rs 14,999 Rs 19,999 Display 6.5-inch 6.3-inch Resolution 1080 x 2340 pixels 1080 x 2340 pixels Processor make HiSilicon Kirin 710 HiSilicon Kirin 970 Processor 2.2GHz octa-core 2.36GHz RAM 4GB 4GB Internal storage 64GB 64GB Expandable storage 256GB 256GB Rear camera 20MP + 2MP 16MP + 2MP Front camera 16MP 16MP Rear Flash Yes Yes Android version 8.1 Oreo 8.1 Oreo So, let’s start with comparing the display of these two smartphones in detail. The Huawei Honor 8X comes with a 6.5-inch display that offers a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. On the other hand, the Honor Play has a 6.3-inch screen, which offers the same resolution as the Honor 8X. The Honor 8X display is slightly bigger than the Honor Play. However, if you are very much concerned about getting a smartphone that should have a bigger display than the Honor 8X might fit the bill. Let’s talk about performance, the Honor 8X is equipped with a Kirin 710 octa-core processor, while the Honor Play is powered by a Kirin 970 octa-core processor. The Honor Play clearly looks better than the Honor 8X in terms of performance since it comes with the company's flagship chipset. One should also keep in mind that you are also paying Rs 5,000 more for Honor Play than the Honor 8X for that privilage. Coming to the cameras, the Honor 8X comes with a dual 20MP + 2MP rear camera setup. The Honor Play, on the other hand, is equipped with a dual 16MP + 2MP rear camera. At the front, both Honor 8X and Honor Play have a 16MP unit respectively. The Honor 8X looks more promising with its camera specifications, but you still can’t judge the quality of the camera by taking a look at megapixels. The Honor Play is better in terms of the processor, but the Honor 8X is no slouch either. It clearly depends on your needs and usage, which one you think would meet your requirements. The Honor 8X is available for 14,999 on Amazon, while you can get the Honor Play for Rs 19,999 in India.
